UNSUNG HEROES IN ACTS (1)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) When we think of the success of the early church, we often think of the work of the apostles. But the church could have died if it hadn't been for the unsung heroes, the men and women who through some small but committed act moved the church forward.

1. Hero

a) Lame man.

2. Scripture text reference

a) Acts 3:9-12

i) 9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God. 10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

11 Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed. 12 So when Peter saw it, he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk? (Acts 3:9-12 NKJV)

3. Heroic action

a) After his healing, he praised God. With the crowds gathering to see what happened, Peter used the opportunity to tell many about Jesus.
