FACTS ABOUT GOD (3)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

0. Introduction

a) The Bible says God (the Father and the Word who later became Jesus Christ) used what they looked like as a pattern for creating man: "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness . . ." (Genesis 1:26). Although composed of spirit, the Godhead used themselves as the master template from which humans came into existence.

1. What does it mean that God is all powerful (Job 42:2, Matthew 28:18; Revelation 19:6)? What does this power enable him to do? He is so powerful He says 'Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand, measured heaven with a span and calculated the dust of the earth in a measure? . . ." (Isaiah 40:12). He reiterates the ability to do whatever he chooses when he states, "Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number. He calls them all by name, by the greatness of His might and the strength of His power not one is missing." (Isaiah 40:26). The power of the Godhead is such that:

a) He can know the thoughts and intentions of anyone (Hebrews 4:12)

b) He can be invisible for as long as he wants (Colossians 1:15)

c) He is Immortal, Eternal (Psalm 90:2; Isaiah 57:15; 1Timothy 1:17)

d) He has self-sustaining existence (Exodus 3:14; 6:3; John 1: 4; 5:26)

e) He is available to help us at any time (1Kings 8:27; Psalm 139:7-12; Matthew 28:28)

f) He is all knowing (Romans 11:33; Psalm 44:21; 139:1-6; Proverbs 24:12)

g) He is perfectly impartial (1Peter 1:17)
