TWENTY-FOUR (24) IN THE BIBLE

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. Number TWENTY-FOUR in the Bible

a) Around the throne were twenty-four thrones; and upon the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white garments, and golden crowns on their heads. (Revelation 4:4)

b) The number twenty-four is used twice in the above scripture.

c) John reports that he saw twenty-four thrones around the main throne in heaven. On the twenty-four thrones sat the twenty-four elders.

d) Who are the twenty-four elders? They represent those who have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.

e) Because there were twelve tribes of Israel in the Old Testament and twelve disciples in the New Testament, the twenty-four elders in this vision represent ALL the redeemed of God for all time before and after Christ's death and resurrection. That includes all who have been washed in the shed blood of Jesus.

f) The twenty-four elders represent every redeemed person whether Jew or Gentile, man or female, young or old. The twenty-four elders show us that we, too will be in continual worship of God in heaven. Why not begin now to worship Him in spirit and truth?

g) Because the scripture says the twenty-four elders are in white garments, crowned and enthroned, it suggests that they have been rewarded.

h) Let the redeemed of the Lord say so "for great is your reward in heaven." (Matthew 5:12)
