BIBLICAL VIEW | FALSE WITNESS (2)

1. Introduction

Proverbs 19:5 New Living Translation (NLT)

A false witness will not go unpunished, nor will a liar escape.

2. What do true witnesses do...

Proverbs 14:25 New Living Translation (NLT)

25 A truthful witness saves lives,
but a false witness is a traitor.

3. A false witness has no relationship to truth...

a) Lies may escape detection in this life, but they shall not escape judgment.

b) GOD's judgment standard revolves around and is established in truth.

c) He will make sure every transgression receives a "recompense of reward."

d) A lie may seem to triumph for a time.

e) But truth will eventually emerge and be established.

f) A false witness gets innocent people in trouble, and their lies cause false accusations to be made and wrong judgment decisions are reached...

4. The false witness against Joseph...

a) Joseph was falsely accused and wrongly thrown in jail...

Genesis 39:19-23 New Living Translation (NLT)

19 Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. 20 So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained. 21 But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love. And the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden. 22 Before long, the warden put Joseph in charge of all the other prisoners and over everything that happened in the prison. 23 The warden had no more worries, because Joseph took care of everything. The Lord was with him and caused everything he did to succeed.

b) It's amazing to see who, and how many believe the false accusations, and false witness.

c) It can sound so convincing, and almost impossible to defend...
