WHAT IS MAN? HIS POSITION

1. His Position

a) Man was created lower than angels, Hebrews 2:7, and higher than animals, Psalms 8:6-8. Among men there are differences also: The head of every man is Christ and the head of the woman is the man, and he head of Christ is God, 1 Corinthians 11:3.

Hebrews 2:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
And set him over the works of Your hands.

Psalm 8:6-8 New King James Version (NKJV)
You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
All sheep and oxen—
Even the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air,
And the fish of the sea
That pass through the paths of the seas.

1 Corinthians 11:13 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?

b) Men are to obey kings and governors, 1 Peter 2:13-14, Romans 13:1. The Lord Jesus is over all creation, Hebrews 2:6-9, Revelation 3:14.

1 Peter 2:13-14 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Therefore submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake, whether to the king as supreme, 14 or to governors, as to those who are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and for the praise of those who do good.

Romans 13:1 New King James Version (NKJV)
13 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.

Hebrews 2:6-9 New King James Version (NKJV)
But one testified in a certain place, saying:

“What is man that You are mindful of him,
Or the son of man that You take care of him?
You have made him a little lower than the angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor,
And set him over the works of Your hands.
You have put all things in subjection under his feet.”

For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.

Revelation 3:14 New King James Version (NKJV)
14 “And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God:
