THE GOOD NEWS (1)

(Message by Tanny Keng)

1. The Good News

a) The word Gospel is the Greek word euaggelion it means good news.

But the angel said to them,“Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord, (Luke 2:10-11).

b) When the angels announced the birth of Jesus they called Him, a Savior. A Savior is one who rescues people, like a fireman who rescues someone from a burning building. The name Jesus means, God saves. The title Christ means the “Anointed One”, the “Messiah” who was prophesied in the scriptures. Jesus is the One sent to rescue you and bring you to your Father in Heaven. You can trust Him and rest in Him.

c) The Gospel of the Bible is all about Jesus the Christ. The Gospel message includes God’s plan to rescue people from sin and the effects of sin; so that people can be restored to a right relationship with God the Father. Sin separates people from God because He is righteous, holy, and just. Jesus came from heaven to earth and suffered and died for your sins, if you believe and continue to believe.

For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, (1 Corinthians 15:3-4 NKJV).

The End ...
