SEVEN FINAL VISIONS (2-7) | MULTITUDE IN HEAVEN (REVELATION 19:1-6)

1. Revelation

a) John wrote Revelation while a prisoner on the Island of Patmos, approximately 85-95 A.D. Its purpose is to give encouragement and hope for all Christians to continue watching for the return and triumph of the Lord Jesus Christ. It also is to warn of the Final Judgment that nonbelievers will endure on that Last Day.

b) John wrote that Revelation is special because,“Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near” (Revelation 1:3).

c) A brief view of the Book of Revelation. It gives you some basic understanding of the book of Revelation.

2. The Fourfold Hallelujah

Revelation 19:1-6
1 After these things I heard something like a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,

“Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God; 2 because His judgments are true and righteous; for He has judged the great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her immorality, and He has avenged the blood of His bond-servants on her.” 3 And a second time they said, “Hallelujah! Her smoke rises up forever and ever.” 4 And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying,

“Give praise to our God, all you His bond-servants, you who fear Him, the small and the great.” 6 Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,

“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.

3. Multitude In Heaven

Revelation 19:1-4

a) Multitude in heaven

i) This final trilogy is more a celebrattion of victory than a woe song. John hears a voice like that of a great multitude in heaven, singing Hallelujah (Revelation 19:1-2). After this, three affirmations are made about our God...

b) Glory and power

i) The first affirmation is, "Salvation and glory and power belong to our God" (Revelation 19:1).

c) Judgments true

i) The second affirmation is, "His judgments are true and righteous for he has judged the great harlot" (Revelation 19:1)

d) Avenged the blood

i) The third affirmation is, "For he has avenged the blood of his bondservants upon her... her smoke rises forever and ever" (Revelation 19:2-3).

e) Twenty four elders

i) "The twenty four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, 'Amen! Hallelujah!' " (Revelation 19:4). John saw these worshipers in his earlier visions when he was first called up to the throne of God in heaven (Revelation 4:1-11).

4. God Almighty Reigns

Revelation 19:5-6

a) Give praise... you slaves

i) There is a voice from the throne saying, "Give praise to our God, all you bondslaves, you who fear him, small and great" (Revelation 19:5). God deserves not only praise, but a complete and committed surrender of self to him. This is true not only of ordinary folk but also of great kings. Even the rulers on earth should be pleased to be the slaves of God.

b) God Almighty reigns

i) Then the voice like that of a multitude is heard to say, "Hallelujah! for the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns" (Revelation 19:6). The voice sounded like many waters, symbolizing all nations of earth (Revelation 17:15). The kingdom of heaven is for the wide world.
