THE DIVIDED KINGDOM: BIBLE SUMMARY

1. The Divided Kingdom  

a) Over a thousand years has passed since the times of Israel began. We have been through the times of the Promises to Abraham, Bondage in Egypt, Wandering in the Wilderness, Conquest of Canaan, Kingdom of David, and now we have entered the time of the Kingdom Divided.

2. Bible Summary (1 Kings 11-16)

@1. Solomon's wives (1 Kings 11).

@2. Solomon's adversaries (1 Kings 11).

@3. Rebellion of Jeroboam Solomon's servant (1 Kings 11).

@4. Kingdom of Israel. Ahijah the prophet tears his new cloak into twelve pieces -he tells Jeroboam to take ten (1 Kings 11).

@5. Solomon dies, Rehoboam takes the throne (1 Kings 12).

@6. Israel rebels against Rehoboam (1 Kings 12).

@7. Jeroboam invents his own idolatrous religion for Israel (1 Kings 12).

@8. A prophet speaks. Jeroboam's hand shrivels, his altar breaks (1 Kings 13).

@9. The prophet is misled and is killed by a lion (1 Kings 13).

@10. Jeroboam's son falls ill. His mother visits Ahijah 1 Kings (14).

@11. Ahijah pronounces God's severe judgment (1 Kings 14).

@12. Kingdom of Judah also becomes idolatrous (14).

@13. Shishak king of Egypt attacks Jerusalem, takes the gold (1 Kings 14).

@14. Abijah (Abijam) becomes king after Rehoboam's death (1 Kings 15).

@15. Abijah's wickedness and death (1 Kings 15).

@16. Asa becomes king of Judah after Abijah's death (1 Kings 15).

@17. Asa is a righteous king. He is at war with Israel (1 Kings 15).

@18. Kingdom of IsraelNadab and Baasha reign wickedly in Israel (1 Kings 15).

@19. Jehu the prophet condemns Baasha (1 Kings 16).

@20. The reigns of Elah, Zimri, Omri, and Ahab, each evil (1 Kings 16).

@21. A prophecy by Joshua [Joshua 6:26] comes true (1 Kings 16).
