WATER FROM THE ROCK AT REPHIDIM

1. Miracles In The Bible

a) When people talk about miracles in the Bible, they might automatically think about Jesus. But the Bible is full of miracles performed by other people sent by God, throughout both the Old and the New Testaments. These stories of miracles were written to help God’s people understand more about His love for them and power. As a result, the Israelites would learn to trust in God at all times.

b) Other books in the Old Testament are packed full of miracles. These are mainly performed by prophets: people called by God to represent Him on Earth.

2. Water From The Rock At Rephidim

Exodus 17:5-7
God said to Moses, “Go on out ahead of the people, taking with you some of the elders of Israel. Take the staff you used to strike the Nile. And go. I’m going to be present before you there on the rock at Horeb. You are to strike the rock. Water will gush out of it and the people will drink.”

Moses did what he said, with the elders of Israel right there watching. He named the place Massah (Testing-Place) and Meribah (Quarreling) because of the quarreling of the Israelites and because of their testing of God when they said, “Is God here with us, or not?”

The End ...
