a) The Bible is an historic record of real people and places. 

b) Here is a brief biography of such a person during Bible times.

2. Midian

a) When Abraham gave most of his estate to Isaac, he sent his other sons to a land in the east (Genesis 25:6). Midian's descendants became the Midianites, a nomadic tribe. The Midianites are the ones who pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and took him to Egypt (Genesis 37:28). Later, Moses married the daughter of a Midianite priest, Jethro.
