BIBLE PROPHECIES | JESUS (7)

1. Jesus

a) JESUS is acknowledged by Christians as the Son of God and the only path to salvation. Jesus was born about 2000 years ago in Bethlehem. Jesus not only prophesied, but he is the fulfillment of many Messianic prophecies. Jesus was also unique in that he prophesied about his own life and about the impact that his words would have on the world. He said that His words would never be forgotten and that they would be taught to people everywhere in the world. Today, we can see with our own eyes, that Jesus' words are the best known of any person in the history. We can also see that there are Christians in virtually every part of the world. In fact, Christianity is the first worldwide religion.

b) Bible prophecies are listed below.

2. Bible Prophecies

a) Jesus foretold his death and resurrection.

Matthew 20:17-19 New International Version (NIV)

17 Now Jesus was going up to Jerusalem. On the way, he took the Twelve aside and said to them, 18 “We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death 19 and will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!”

3. Written: During the first century

a) One of the unique qualities about Jesus Christ as a religious figure is that he prophesied his own death and resurrection. One example is found in Matthew 20:17-19. Each of the four Gospels of the New Testament, which were written by Jesus' followers and contemporaries, testify that Jesus was resurrected.

b) Many of the people who saw Jesus after he was resurrected became evangelists, traveling to places in Africa, Asia and Europe to tell others about Jesus. The evangelists were often persecuted by non-believers and sometimes they were executed. The Bible records the deaths of two early evangelists named Stephen (Acts 7:1-8:3) and James (Acts 12:1-4).

c) And the deaths of others, including Peter and many of the other of the Apostles, as well as Paul the evangelist, were later recorded by Christian historians.
