b) And the Lord sent bands of Chaldeans, Syrians, Moabites and Ammonites
against Judah in order to destroy the nation, just as the Lord had
warned through His prophets that He would, because of the disobedience
of the people at that time (2 Kings 24:1-2). When Jehoiakim died, his
son, Jehoiachin, became the new king. The story of Jehoaikim is found in
2 Kings 23:34-37, 2 Kings 24:1-5, and 2 Chronicles 36:4-8. The name
Jehoiakim means "God will arise."
