2. Asahel

a) Asahel was a son of Zeruiah, who was King David's sister, and the brother of Joab and Abishai. Asahel was renown for being fleet of foot (2 Samuel 2:18), but his ability to run swiftly was his downfall. When Asahel pursued Abner in battle, Abner killed him with his spear (2 Samuel 2:23).

b) The name Asahel means "God has made."
